The problem
Data about Switzerland is scattered. Federal offices, cantons, communes, registers, international bodies and private projects each publish their own, in their own format, behind their own search. Even when a figure is public, finding it and trusting it are two different jobs.
What we do
We collect data about Switzerland from sources anywhere in the world, check each record against the original, and publish it as a page you can read. One structure, one search, four languages.
By place, not by office
People do not look for an office, they look for a place or a thing. So entries are organised by locality and category, not by whichever authority happened to publish them.
What we do not do
We invent no figures and we do not quietly correct sources. Values come from the original and every page links back to it. Where sources disagree, we say so rather than picking one silently.
Independent
Datist is a private project. It is not an authority, it decides nothing, and it sells nothing.
