Collecting
We look for sources that describe Switzerland, wherever they are published: federal and cantonal registers, open data portals, international datasets and public records.
Checking
Every record is compared with its original. If a value cannot be traced back to a source, it does not go on the site.
Locating
Where a record has a place, we attach the official locality and, where it is unambiguous, the canton. That is what makes the locality pages work.
Language
A page exists in a language when real text exists for it. Names are proper nouns and stay as they are; descriptions are written per language, not machine translated.
Publishing
Each entry gets its own page with its source, its position on the map and the figures as published. The map view shows everything at once.
